    MID-LEVEL INTERIOR DESIGNER - FULL TIME

    COMPENSATION:  Salary based on experience. Includes full benefits package.

    Trans-Pacific Design is looking for a talented Interior Designer with excellent design and delivery skills to join their team working on a growing number of exciting Hawai'i projects. This full-time position includes career growth and mentorship opportunities for mid-level interior designers. We are looking for self-starters with positive energy, an exceptional attention to detail, proven organizational skills and a love of life in general! The Designer, while working under the direct supervision of a Senior Designer or Project Manager, performs a broad variety of drafting and/or design tasks.

    Specific responsibilities will include:

    • Assisting the senior designer on the initial concept design to concept development.
    • Assisting the senior designer on driving concepts from inception to site completion; including programming, space planning, documentation, furnishings and finishes selection, and construction and installation services.
    • Developing drawing packages and managing projects on to site.
    • Producing design documentation; including, technical drawing in AutoCAD and written specifications.
    • Develop and maintain a practical knowledge of building codes and industry standards.
    • Review pertinent shop drawings and material samples for conformance with design intent.
    • Prepare documentation of meetings.
    • Source merchandise.
    • Obtain written vendor quotes and input to system.
    • Meet task and project deadlines.
    • Task and time tracking by client.
    • Assist in proposal/marketing efforts.
    • For the majority of the time the Designer will be sitting in an office with limited physical requirements.
    • This may require individuals to bend, stretch, twist, and reach It also includes carrying samples up and down stairs.
    • Individuals will be required to visit client jobsites to perform site verifications and field surveys.

       
    Key attributes of the Interior Designer include:

    • Must be currently living in Hawaii, or previously lived in Hawaii and returning long-term.
    • Experienced with AutoCAD, Sketch-up, Excel, Word, Power Point and Access programs.
    • 5 years minimum experience gained working within the interior design profession.
    • Excellent design, presentation and graphics skills.
    • Great written and verbal communication skills.
    • Relevant degree in Interior Design.
    • Working knowledge of the application of color, materials and aesthetic form.
    • Familiarity with space planning methodology.
    • Familiarity with furnishings and equipment.
    • Basic sketching and rendering skills.
    • Basic interior architecture detailing skills.
    • Proven experience in self-motivated focus to achieve project deadlines.
    • Must own a car and have a valid driver's license.
